120 inmates get skill training inUdhampur jail | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 20: The skill training of jail inmates in Udhampur District Jail in collaboration with Horticulture Department evoked good response as 120 inmates participated in the month long course in value added fruits and vegetables and preservation under State Capex. The training laid emphasis on providing emotional and financial support to the inmates, many of whom are first-time criminals and victims of circumstances. The object of the course is to offer psychological solace to the inmates besides making them self dependent. Harish Kotwal District Jail Superintended said the jail inmates had been motivated for self-employment as a result of their skill training. He added that as per the interest of jail inmates we started many vocational courses, as of now one month course under fruits and vegetables preservation by Horticulture department begins in Jail campus and 12o jail inmates participated in the said course. He said the jail inmates showed keen interest in the preparation of various value added products of fruits and vegetables. The trainees were imparted training in the preparation of pickles, jams, Jellies, juices, etc, he added. He said the jail inmates being part of the society need all the help and support to lead a normal life after their release. |
