Former CM projects security forces as villains | After losing power Mehbooba blames men in uniform for forcing Burhan his brother turning rebels | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 20: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the President of the Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti has once again reiterated that Hizbul militant commander Burhan Wani should have been caught alive. "Burhan picked up the gun only after his elder brother was beaten up by the security forces. Killing militants is not helping and it is not a solution. Those who pick up gun, you kill them. But not their idea. You have to address the idea," Mehbooba recently told India Today. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "After losing power Mehbooba is accusing the police and security forces of committing atrocities on people but when she was the Chief Minister she used to praise the police and the security forces for handling the situation in a professional manner. After losing power she has taken a u-turn." He said, "Today she has become the advocate of the Burhan Wani and his brother. She is virtually blaming the security forces for pushing youth towards gun and is trying to act as their spokesman. Someone needs to remind her that during her tenure police in Jammu region beat up many youth and resorted to lathi charge on many occasions but she never advocated the cause of nationalist people of Jammu region and never sympathized with them. This shows her bias towards Jammu." The analyst said that after losing power Mehbooba has changed her tone and colour when she was the Chief Minister of the state she never used to miss an opportunity to praise the police and security forces. Referring to her speech just a few days before the fall of her government in the state, the analyst said on June 9, 2018, Mehbooba along with the union home minister Rajnath Singh visited frontier district of Kupwara. "During her speech she lauded the security forces for exercising restraint and handling difficult situations in a professional manner," the analyst recalled. He said that while chairing the UHQ meetings during her tenure she announced special incentives for the jawans fighting militancy and eliminating militants and maintaining law and order. "She seems to have forgotten that during her tenure she as a home minister of the state wanted security forces to restore the normalcy at any cost," the analyst added. He said that after losing power she is trying to project herself as a "saint" who was unaware about what's happening around her. It's in place to mention here that when Burhan Wani was killed, Mehbooba Mufti was holding the Home portfolio. She had claimed that when encounter was on she was unaware about Burhan being caught in the gunfight. However, a top police officer of the state had left Mehbooba red faced when he told the reporters that the Chief Minister was aware about the entire operation in which Burhan was killed. The top police officer speaking the truth infuriated the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti so much that she sent him to Delhi for not supporting her "blatant lie." A Kashmir watcher said, "Mehbooba should stop projecting herself as a victim as there are no takers for her lies and tantrums being thrown by her. Someone needs to tell her that she was the Chief Minister of the state and entire official machinery was at her disposal." |
