Jammu, Ladakh want Azadi from Kashmir, not autonomy | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 21: National Conference has once again started talking about autonomy and its restoration. The NC president Farooq Abdullah has said that if his party is voted to power with absolute majority, his party would bring within a month a resolution in the Assembly seeking autonomy for all regions of the state and would to see to it that "autonomy is granted this time." An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "It seems National Conference is desperate to regain the power as its leaders during the past few days have gone on an announcement spree and are making tall promises." "Dr Farooq Abdullah needs to be told that people of Jammu region and Ladakh are not interested in any sort of autonomy and they want Azadi from Kashmir and Valley centric politicians," he added. The analyst said Dr Farooq's statement should serve as an eye opener for the Jammu based politicians. "Leaders from Jammu region should wake up before it's too late. They should join hands and fight for acquiring more assembly seats for the Jammu region," he said. "Politicians from Kashmir are able to dominate the political discourse as Jammu and Ladakh have fewer seats in the assembly," he added. A politician said that NC is trying to strengthen its grip in the Valley as the party leaders know it very well that Peoples Democratic Party led by Mehbooba Mufti is in dire straits. "Even the former PDP leaders have joined the National Conference and there is every possibility of PDP getting disintegrated fully. So it would mean no competition for NC in the Valley," he said. The politician said that NC should stop showing dreams to people and tell them the truth that J&K is an integral part of India and it would remain so. "Restoration of Autonomy is nothing but a myth as it has become outdated. People of Jammu and Kashmir know it very well that New Delhi would never grant any sort of Autonomy to J&K. NC is raising this bogey just to woo the voters in the Valley," the politician added. An observer said that leaders from Jammu region should stop acting like mute spectators and need to put their act together before Kashmir centric parties once again "hijack" the election process and Jammu leaders would be left with no other option other than to act as second fiddles of any Kashmir centric party. "People of Jammu are watching the developments keenly and are analyzing how the leaders would react," the observer added. |
