Pvt clinics function illegally in J&K | | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: Owing to a nexus between some health department officials and private clinic owners, hundreds of the private clinics owned by the outsiders are running in the state without registration from the Director Health Services in Jammu. However, an official of the DHS Jammu told that teams were formulated to verify the credentials of the private clinics, especially those run by outsiders very shortly as there are numbers of complaints against them. Sources told Early Times that after receiving a number of complaints against the private clinics for fleecing patients in Jammu province, the Health Ministry had issued directions to the department to ask these centres to get registered. The former Director of DHS Jammu has been accused of helping those clinics to flourish despite complaints against them. Sources claimed that non- resident doctors from reputed hospitals across the country visit Jammu every month to woo the patients through big advertisements. The patients are told to visit their health institute for further investigation. This, sources, said is the reason that the department is not verifying whether these doctors have qualified the Medical Council of India (MCI) examinations or not. "On the first visit to these clinics, patients are forced to undergo a number of tests following which they are motivated to visit their hospitals outside the State for treatment. Despite the numbers of complaints the concerned authorities have failed to take any action against them, "sources added. |
