Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 24: Congress has accused the BJP of doing nothing for the people of Jammu for nearly four years when it was in power in Jammu and Kashmir except for exploiting them by perpetuating the divisive politics. Addressing a meeting of party workers, farmers and youth in Marh on Monday, PCC Gen. Secretary Balwan Singh said that BJP that has been blowing the trumpet of having done so much during its years in rule should come out with all the record of its work for farmers, border residents and youth. Since, it has done nothing, the saffron party is using extraneous issues to divide the polity. Singh said that the BJP rule was the darkest period for the State, and in particular for Jammu, the region that suffered because of the unprecedented corruption of its ministers and legislators. "The BJP has broken all records of corruption, and mis-governance was its hallmark. The sufferers were the common people, especially the youth who were exploited and denied all opportunities to get their share in jobs because of the high level corruption," he said. He said that the time has come for BJP to pack its bags from Jammu and Kashmir as the peoples in three states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have already delivered a verdict against it. "The people have realized that Congress alone can sail them through the difficult times inflicted by the BJP", he added. Balwan Singh said that the Congress party under the dynamic leadership of party president Rahul Gandhi will help farmers come out of the distress as the party has done in the three states where it won the Assembly elections early this month. He said that he would work for the youth and other weaker sections of society. Others who spoke on the occasion included Senior Congress leaders Lala Devi Dass, Ashok Bhagat, Sardar Vikram Singh, Ashwani Sharma (Block President), Rashpal Bhardwaj (Corporator), Jagdish Raj Sarpanch, Ashok Saini Sarpanch, Somnath Dogra Sarpanch, Sardar Charanjeet Singh, Jia Lal, Surjeet Singh, Capt. Rattan Singh, Santosh Singh Chib, Davinder Sharma (Binda). |
