Masked miscreants desecrate Grand mosque's pulpit, make video viral
Separatists finally sense heat of their misdeeds

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 29: What is proving as Frankenstein's monster for the separatists in Kashmir is the emergence of the dreadful face of radicalised youth who have this time desecrated the pulpit of Kashmir's grand mosque.
On December 28, when the congregational Friday prayers concluded at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, some masked youth burst into the scenes, holding flags of dreaded terrorist organisation ISIS and chanting slogans. One amongst them jumped to the pulpit- exactly at the place where Mirwaiz Umar Farooq delivers sermon every Friday and unfurled the black flag as his other mates raised slogans. The video was captured on some mobile phone and later the clip was made viral on Social media.
This is for the first time since centuries that the pulpit of the Kashmir's grand mosque was desecrated by any person and any one has climbed upto the pulpit and waved flags of the dreaded terrorist organisation. "This is not the first time that such anarchists have tried to desecrate the Masjid but it has continued over this past year. They have desecrated the mosque by digging the floor, breaking the door, damaging the pillars and creating chaos while the believers are engaged in prayers. While they've been warned by the people who live and work around the mosque, they've not only refused to listen but also tried to burn down the shop of one of the shopkeepers who challenged their viscous plan," says one of the members of Masjid's committee. "Yesterday late afternoon after Friday prayers, a bunch of hooligans entered the Jamia Masjid. After most of the believers had left for their homes, these hooligans sensing an opportunity for their outrageous stunt, ran towards the Minbar of the historical Jamia Masjid. What they did afterwards was not only cowardly but also unethical and unIslamic. They ran towards the pulpit, and tried to unfurl the flag of a defeated group in Iraq and Syria. They shouted and screamed, while their co-anarchists record this act to gain attention for their cowardly stunt, " he added.
Meanwhile, the scenes which have been witnessed in Jamia Masjid could be equated with the adage known as 'Frankenstein's monster'. The separatists who have been initiating the youth to protest and take law in their own hands have for the first time felt the heat of their own misdeeds and the repercussions of the same. "The incident shouldn't be viewed in isolation. It is the game plan of the that separatists had themselves hatched when they instigate youth to pelt stones at security forces and then justify their actions in an unprecedented manner. Today, they must have sensed what happens when the demon they had been nourishing has gone out of the control," says a resident of old city.
Its in place to mention here that every Friday, it has become a norm that the masked youth appeared outside the Jamia Masjid and indulge in stone-pelting. Today the same miscreants have entered into the mosque. Separatists have been calling these masked youth their supporters.
A resident Firdous said it was known that these youth have affiliations with the separatist groups. "Everyone knows whose supporters they are and whose behest they indulge in stone pelting on Fridays at Nowhatta," he added.
Meanwhile, the separatists on Saturday issued a statement in which they have condemned such an action and termed it mere 'hooliganism'. It would be interesting to observe that will this condemnation serve any purpose on ground and will it be selective or a general reprimand for all those who create chaos on the streets of Kashmir.
