Jammu, Dec 30: A social group of India namely PRAYAAS-Lets Bring Back The Golden India held a awareness drive about malnutrition among slum children wherein slum children were fed with nutritious milk and fruits while warm clothes, shoes, books, blankets were also distributed at Kalka colony slums near Bagh-E-Bahu. Members of the organisation had launched a campaign to collect old warm clothes from college/ university students and residents across different area. The clothes collected during the campaign were distributed among people living in slum colonies. Prayaas volunteer distributed the eatable stuff and clothes in presence of Corporator of ward no. 48 Sham Lal Basan. The main objective of this event was to aware the people about the malnutrition in children because nutrition is the major problem in infants and children. K Koushal-journalist was the resource person present on the occasion. In his address Koushal appreciated the Prayaas team and said such events are very necessary for the upliftment of the nation. Large number of volunteers from different parts of state joined the Prayaas team on the occasion. "Chronic hunger makes both children and adults more susceptible to common illnesses and infections, and can eventually lead to death due to wasting or rapid weight loss. India tops the list as the most undernourished country hungry citizens", said Navjot Bakshi He further said that despite a remarkable progress in the economy, the country has failed to eradicate hunger at the grassroots levels and is home to 15 percent of the world's hungry. What is more shocking than these troubling facts is that the world produces enough food to feed everyone sufficiently but poverty forces so many of them to sleep on empty stomach. The Prayaas group led by three social inspiring social activists Navjot Bakshi, Rahul Prasher and Rinku Sharma urged the society to come forward and help the needy ones. The Prayaas founders make an appeal to the society to join them in noble cause and contribute for the welfare of the poor people. Other prominent persons who contributed to make this event successful included Rajat Sharma, Shubam Bali, Vikram Partap, Sachin Sumbria, Shubam Prasher, Sahil Bakshi, Mukesh Kumar, Sahil Sharma, Sourav Sharma, Rishav Sharma, Kanav Sharma, Mridul Sharma etc. |
