Reorganize J&K to end slavery of Jammu, Ladakh
Revolt in BJP, Congress
12/30/2018 10:38:01 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 30: Two important political developments took place just two days ago, December 28. Paradoxically, both went unnoticed. That day, two leaders, one each from the Congress and the BJP, spoke their mind and without mincing words demanded four-way split of J&K opining that division of J&K into four states alone could defeat the ongoing secessionist movement in Kashmir, end 71-year-old slavery of Jammu and Ladakh and address on a permanent basis the concerns of the persecuted and hounded out Kashmiri Hindus. They were former Leh MLA and President of Ladakhi Buddhist Association and District Congress Committee president T Samphal from Ladakh and Surinder Ambardar, BJP MLC.
Trashing the entire spectrum of the so-called mainstream leadership in Kashmir for their opposition to the proposed Divisional status to Ladakh province and said that the Ladakhis not just wanted UT status for their region. But also statehood for Jammu and division of Kashmir to create a separate homeland for Kashmiri Hindus within Kashmir invested with the UT status. He warned the BJP-led NDA Government that the people of Ladakh knew how to get UT for Ladakh and it would be better if the government granted it sooner than later. He lambasted the BJP for ditching the people of Ladakh by going back on its commitment that it, if voted to power, will grant "UT to Ladakh with six months" and said "4-way split of J&K is the only course left and the sooner the authorities realized it, the better for the country and the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus". Senior Congress leader from Ladakh Samphal made these statements in a seminar organized by the Kashmiri Hindus' premier organization Panun Kashmir of Agnishekhar and Ajay Chrungoo in Jammu. The theme of the seminar was "Divide Kashmir Reorganize The State".
The BJP MLC Surinder Ambardar echoed identical views during an interview. Talking to India Today, he said: "Kashmir and Ladakh should be granted Union Territory status while Jammu region should be made a separate state". "The political parties in J&K have failed to solve the problems of the people. I feel that the state needs to be reorganized. Kashmir and Ladakh should be made Union Territories while Jammu should get statehood. This will give the much needed relief to the people of the state. People need good governance in J&K. The political parties in the Valley are not good enough to deliver. They are even tacitly supporting terrorism," Surinder Ambardar was quoted as saying. "Trifurcating the state was the only solution to end the problems in J&K," he further said.
The BJP MLC also claimed that "he is in touch with the prominent 'opinion makers' of the country about his model for Jammu and Kashmir and he also expected a positive response from the party leadership".
When asked about the demand of many Kashmiri Hindu organizations for the creation of a separate homeland within Kahmir invested with UT status, the BJP MLC said, "he has no reservations on that".
"There is a view among large number of Kashmiri Pandits that Union Territory should also be created for them. I don't have any reservations on that demand," Ambardar was quoted as saying.
The statements made by the Congress leader, T Samphal, and BJP MLC, Surinder Ambardar, only indicated that things in both the parties are changing and that there are influential in both the parties who are for a radical change in the 71-year-old politico-constitutional, administrative and economic structure. In other words, there are elements in both the BJP and the Congress who believe, and very rightly, that the existing system is Kashmir-centric and has outlived its utility as it has failed to cater to the needs of Ladakh and Jammu and not protected the Hindu minority in Kashmir against exclusion by the majority.
