Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 2: Education Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Anupama Jaiswal today visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. During her visit The Education Minister, UP was interacted with Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU. The minister discussed various issues related to higher education, women empowerment and lauded the functioning of the university, particularly running of various postgraduate (PG) and Research Programmes. Jaiswal was quite impressed to know the progress made by SMVDU in a short span of time, while securing a ranking in the top 100 Engineering institutes and top 150 universities by the NIRF 2018 Ranking, MHRD, GoI. Dr. Jain briefed the minister that students from 23 states have been studying in SMVDU, as well as the university is a leading institute in the J&K region in terms of filing patents. Dr. Jain also informed the minister about the preparations and progress made by the university, keeping in view the NAAC team visit on 7th, 8th and 9th January 2019. The minister visited various Schools and interacted with respective Heads. Other university officials, Prof. V.K. Bhat, Registrar; Vinod Sharma, Administrative Officer; Samir Vohra, Assistant Registrar; and Dr. Rakesh Jha, Associate Dean (R&D) informed the education minister about the short-term goals of the University. Dr. Sanjeev Jain thanked the minister for her visit, and requested that she should visit the university again. |
