| Angry Poonch people seek ARTO's transfer | | |

Poonch, Jan 7: The newly posted ARTO Poonch has been severely criticized for his `inefficiency'. Locals said he has no knowledge of the work entrusted to him and have demanded his transfer.
They also alleged that lower ranked employees of the said office always misbehave with public and at will, demand money for every work.
They said anybody who refuses to pay money is ignored and his papers consigned to cold chambers.
Similarly, many people who are visiting ARTO office for fitness tests of their vehicles and for driving test, have to wait for many days and those who greased the palm of employees of ARTO office, get their work done within no time.
They said that employees of ARTO office has a fixed rate of various works which start from Rs 5000 to Rs 7000.
Pleading anonymity, some vehicle owners said, "This ARTO seems to have no knowledge about various type of work and because of his attitude, public is suffering at large".
Early Times tried to contact RTO Jammu on the said matter but the concerned officer did not pick up the phone.
Meanwhile, locals have demanded that the said ARTO should be transferred and government should provide a new ARTO who knows each and everything of ARTO office. |
