Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 7: The Health Centre of Central University of Jammu is reportedly on ventilators as despite taking medical fee from the students, there are no basic medicines available for the students, who are only getting long prescriptions. According to students of CUJ, the University has been taking medical charges from the students during their admission process. In other universities of the country, the Health Centre usually provide basic health care facilities to the students and in some varsities, specialist doctors also visit for the facility of students. "The CUJ Health Centre is virtually on ventilators as the doctor available there only gave prescriptions and when students enquire about the medicines, they are told to take medicines from some private clinic outside the campus", a student informed. They further said that even basic medicines for common ailments such as cold, cough, pain, allergy, gastric problems, vomiting beside other are not available for the students. "Except some bandage material there is no facily. These medicines might be purchased by the health centre but are not available for the students and whenever we approach them, the doctor only gives prescriptions and told us to take the medicines from the open market", another student said, adding that where the money collected from the students in the form of medical fee is going. Moreover, there is no list of medicines pasted outside the Health Centre. "All the government hospitals have been asked to paste a list of medicines available in their supply but CUJ Health Centre has no such list or medicines for the students", another student said, adding that probably the medicines might be given to the administrative staff but not to the students. The student further said that if there was no basic medicines, then what was the rationale of appointing doctors in the Health Centre. "We appealed Vice Chancellor to seek detail of all the purchases made by the university for Health Centre and availability of the medicines for the students", the students said. |
