Sycophants highjack new VC Wakf board
Development takes a back seat
1/9/2019 11:13:58 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 9: Despite change of guard for the Muslim Specified Wakfs and Specified Properties (MSWSP), things remained unchanged, as after around six weeks, when G R Sufi, Ex-Chief Information Commissioner, J&K took over as Vice-Chairman of the Board, no initiative for development of the Board has been taken.
Insiders informed Early Times that sycophants have hijacked the new VC. "Taking a step ahead the incumbent is trying to re-employ one retied General Manager, instead of showing doors to those who are staying despite exceeding fixed age for retirement in violation of rules the Board", said a source whishing not to be named.
"Property worth several crores is unattended and un-utilized for long time. Hotel Gulmarg owned by the Board, worth over five crores rupees is closed for over a year", sources said and added that it was a sources of revenue for the Board.
They further said another property is lying un-utilized at Lal Chowk for last two years. "Two years back, the Board constructed six shops, in its Press Complex at Lal Chowk by spending Rs 50lacs, but this property has also been left abandon by the Board", he added.
They further alleged apart from commercial complexes, orchards and the forest of Board are unattended. "The Board has 12 Orchards, speared over 6000 kanal of land, the forest over 5400 kanal areas in various places, but nobody taking care of it", he added.
They said at the time of Sofi nomination as VC of the Board, by Advisor Khurshid Ganai, who is chairman of the Board, it was expected that he would take steps for facelift and reform in the Board, but unfortunately, like his predecessors he could not serve the purpose. "Our new VC is not accessible for lower-rung officials of the board, as he has created a wall of hierarchy in religious body, and this approach demeans the very purpose of its existence", he added, appealing Advisor Ganai, to personally intervene in the affairs of Board, and also seek weekly report in functioning of the Board for its better tomorrow.
