3 Day long awareness campaign begun

RAJOURI, Jan 9: An awareness programme on 'Khelo India' was organized by Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and broadcasting Government of India, Field Outreach Bureau, Rajouri at Govt. Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Rajouri in the presence of Sajjad Ahmed Naqueeb Principle ITI Rajouri, Manzoor Hussain Supervisor ITI Rajouri, Kewal Sharma PEM DYSSO, Balvinder Singh PEM DYSSO, Mahesh Khajuria PET DYSSO, Ram Lal Performer ROB Jammu .
Sajjad Ahmed Naqueeb Principle ITI Rajouri in his address said that sport and fitness in one's life is invaluable. Playing sports inculcates team spirit develops strategic and analytical thinking, leadership skills, goal setting and risk taking. A fit and healthy individual leads to an equally healthy society and strong nation. He urged the students to participate in sports and games and lead a healthy life and also encourage others to participate in sports and games. The pledge for 'Khelo India' was administered by the Principle of the Institution
In his address Balvinder Singh PEM District Youth and Sports Services Rajouri enlightened the audience about importance of sports and games in one's life. He said that sports are an extremely important component for the overall development of our nation. India in the last few years has made steady progress in the field of sports. This tremendous potential needs to be showcased at a global platform. He added that their department has conducted many events at Block level to inspire young talent and inculcate a strong spirit of participation in sports among youth.
Vijay Mattoo, I/c FOB, Rajouri in his welcome address enlightened the audience about the working and mandate of ROB & said that the motive behind organizing this programme was to create awareness among the general masses about the importance of Khelo India so that players are able to demonstrate the true potential. He said that under Khelo India Government is promoting 16 disciplens which are as follows:- Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing , Football, Gynmastics, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Shooting, Swimming, Volleyball, Weightlifting and wrestling. HE said that the main aim of organizing sports events at ITIO Rajouri was to encourage the students to practise regularly various sports and games.
A Kho-Kho match for girls and a volleyball match for boys were also organized to promote students participation in sports in which students participated enthusiastically and PEM from DYSSO Rajouri helped the students to conduct the events.
The registered troupes of ROB mesmerized the audience with their theme based Songs, Dramas and Dances during the programme.
