People express resentment over ailing health scenario | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, Jan 13: People of Sub Division Mendhar have expressed resentment for government's failure to fill posts of 25 assistant surgeons which have been lying vacant for quite some time. The locals while accusing the government of apathy said the shortage of staff had hampered the health services in the area. Sources said Mendhar Sub Divison being situated close to Line of control has an overall ailing health scenario. They said firing and shelling from across the border was a regular affair and under such circumstances healthcare for the locals must have been a priority for the government but on the ground there was not any such development in the sight. The Sub district hospital was already running short of gynecologist, surgeons, physicians and anesthia specialists yet no efforts were being made to cope with the situation. Block Medical officer Mendhar, Dr Parvez Khan said that we have been sending requisites for medicos and other staff to the higher-ups line to line and it was up to the government to make arrangements according to the public demand but unfortunately nothing is being done in this matter. Whatever resources we have available we utilize than for the betterment of the patients under all circumstances, he added. |
