Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 12: MIER college of Education today organized "Meet the eminent women personality". Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies, MIER College of Education (Autonomous) invited Dr. Indu Kaul, former HoD, Department of Gynecology, Govt. Medical College, Jammu under the series. Dr. Indu Kaul is an eminent professional and an empowered woman of our state who shared her experiences of life and journey towards becoming a women of substance in her own area of specialization. Dr. Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson, MIER chaired the session. The HoDs of various departments of the college along with the students and faculty attended the session. Dr. Kaul has been member of Governing Body AIIMS Patna, Fellow International Medical Sciences Academy, Former President Federation of Obstetrician and Gynecological Society of India, Expert and Counselor Adolescent Health and Former Chairperson J&K Police Wives Welfare Association. According to Dr. Koul entering into medical college furthered her confidence, patience and taught her to be giving to others. She was the first female from the state to go for training in oncology in Philadelphia, USA. On coming back Dr. Kaul not only recommended changes in the curriculum of UG and PG programmes in the medical college but also worked to improve the status of women health in the state. Sharing her lessons of life, she said you need to be prepared to face the hardships of life, identify your passion and excel in it, follow your dreams and be focused, stick to ethics and word hard, pursue happiness and give back to your parents, all those who helped you in your journey and society at large. She owed her success to two men in her life her father and her husband. In an interactive session afterwards, Dr. Kaul answered various queries of the students and faculty. A formal 'Vote of Thanks' was presented by Monika Rathore, Coordinator, SGCWS. The programme was ably conducted by Honeyka Mahajan, a student of B.Ed. |
