DB direct to file status report regarding compliance of SC directions | PIL on Transgenders | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 12: Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice and Justice Sanjeev Kumar while hearing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with regard to providing constitutional rights and ensuring welfare of transgender community of the J&K state, sought latest status report regarding the compliance of the directions made by the Supreme Court within a period of four weeks from today. When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed that in terms of last orders passed by this Court, the State Government was given time to place on record the finalization of policy regarding trans-genders. However, such effort was aborted on account of inability of petitioners to travel to Jammu for the meeting. DB ordered that in order to avoid any confusion, we direct that the meeting shall be held on 20th February, 2019 at 12.00 noon and in case the petitioners, or representative of the petitioners are unable to travel to Jammu, the Secretary, Social Welfare Department, J&K, shall facilitate the meeting through Skype / Video Conferencing or any other electronic mode. We are further informed that the petitioners have made grievances that the respondents have not implemented the pending directions of the Supreme Court in National Legal Services Authority v. Union of India and others. |
