AAI airlifts stranded people from Airport | | |
Jammu, Feb 12: Airports Authority of India (AAI), Jammu Airport has come forward to facilitate airlifting of the stranded people of Kashmir Valley in Jammu by accommodating operation of rescue flights planned by IAF during last 3 days as per requirement of the state authorities. In the wake of recent heavy snowfall in Kashmir and landslides on Jammu Srinagar highway, huge number of people got stranded in Jammu. In the rescue flights operated on Sunday and Monday around 893 passengers have been airlifted from Jammu Airport. AAI has made special arrangements to accommodate the above movements including late evening departure while ensuring least effect to the normal Aircraft movement from the civil dispersal in the wake of the sheer size of the transport aircraft deployed by IAF for the purpose. This has proven to be a huge relief to the stranded people including students. Although these people has created ruckus on the city side of the airport on Tuesday to the extent of damaging AAI property and causing inconvenience to bonafide passengers and were controlled with use of police force. However on Tuesday security personnel were ferried by these additional flights. |
