DB seeks latest status report on condition of jails | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 12: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice and Justice Sanjeev Kumar directed State to bring on record the latest status report regarding the position of conditions of the Jails in the State of Jammu& Kashmir. DB observed that Sr. AAG informed this Court that revised draft Prison Rules have been prepared as ordered and the same is pending consideration before the Committee constituted by the State Government and it will take about six weeks' time to enable the Committee to examine the draft rules and take a final decision. DB further observed that Sr. AAG Dar also informed this Court that the State has examined the complaint made by Amicus alleging that prisoners have been compelled to remain naked in the Central Jail, Srinagar and also stated that entire incident has been investigated and the report dated 16th October, 2018 has been submitted on court record. DB directed that a copy of the report dated 16.10.2018 be provided to N. A. Beigh, counsel for the J&K State Legal Services Authority, who may verify the correctness of the same and make submissions in this regard on the next date of hearing. |
