| NHW partially restored, stranded vehicles allow | | |  Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Feb 12: Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) is partially opened for vehicular Traffic and stranded vehicles allowed moving toward Kashmir valley by the concern agencies.
More than one thousands vehicles including heavy and light motor vehicles and vehicles essential commodities were allowed to move towards Kashmir after six days.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat personally monitored the road clearance operation from early morning which was launched by the construction agencies at Panthyal, Maroge and other adjacent areas for reopening of NH-44.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ramban, Anita Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Sanjeev Khajuria, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. Basharat Hussain, Dy. SP Traffic Suresh Sharma and various officers of civil and police administration were supervised the road clearance operations at different landslide spots.
DDC said that a landslide had blocked the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country at Panthyal and Maroge in Ramban district after that administration had started immediate work on road clearance operation resulting road has been partially restored for traffic.
DDC directed the authorities and other executing agencies to keep adequate men and machinery to remove landslides instantly from national highway to avoid traffic jamming and traffic breakdown besides ensuring traffic worthy road besides requesting passengers to contact traffic control rooms before starting their journey on the highway. |
