PC exposes NC, PDP shakes hands with NC | Competitive secessionism | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 20: Strange things are happening in the terrorist and separatist-infested Kashmir as far as the so-called mainstream parties, including National Conference, People's Democratic Party and People's Conference are concerned. Convinced that their constituency is the same, all the three are taking recourse to politics of competitive secessionism and trying to convince their constituency that they are its true representatives. They are also telling it that though they are different platforms, they can forge an alliance also in case of need to protect what they call "state and the state's special status". At the same time, each one of these parties is leaving no stone unturned to turn the tables on the two other parties and promote its vote-bank politics. Only on Tuesday, the PC lambasted the NC, the PDP and the Congress and accused them of diluting the state's special status for the sake of personal power and profit. In fact, the Sajad Lone's PC posed some pertinent questions to the Congress and the NC. Two of the questions were: "Isn't it a fact that the Congress Government headed by Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq in 1965 made the most perilous assault on the state autonomy by amending the J&K Constitution to do away with 'Sadar-e-Riyasat' and the 'Prime Minister' and designate them as 'Governor' and the 'Chief Minister', respectively? Isn't it a fact that the state government headed by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in 1975 amended Article 368 to add a clause which made it impossible for the state legislature to reverse the amendments made in the state constitution in 1965?" The PC also dismissed the PDP as a "co-conspirator". "The NC, the Congress and the PDP were all facilitators and co-conspirators in every single machination launched against the state's special status," the PC said in a written statement. The upshot of the whole attack of the PC on the NC, the PDP and the Congress was: While all the three are opportunistic, the PC is the only one which is committed to safeguarding the special status of the state. It also left none in any doubt that it, like the NC, the Congress and the PDP, is also Kashmir-centric and that it, like them, considers non-Kashmiris irrelevant, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains and Christians included. As for the NC, the PDP and the Congress, less said, the better. They are one and they proved it on November 21 forming a "Grand Alliance" to keep the PC-BJP out of power. J&K Assembly was dissolved on November 21. And on Feb 18, the PDP and the NC again demonstrated a sort unity by making a joint appeal to the Government of India to ensure "safety of Kashmiris and Kashmiri students outside Kashmir". All the activities of these parties are being closely monitored by the people of Jammu and Ladakh and for obvious reasons. If things continue to remain the same for some more time, the situation would worsen outside Kashmir. |
