Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report Udhampur, Feb 22 : Even as the right to education is a fundamental right, most of the schools in Udhampur district are lagging far behind in providing quality education, A government high school in a remote village Satyalta in Zone Ghordi of District Udhampur is in dire need of teachers. Locals said requests for adequate staff have fallen on deaf ears. The shortage of teachers, locals said, has put the career of the students into jeopardy. They said the girl students were the worst sufferers. According to them, there are only five teachers for 240 students. Pardeep Kumar, a student said lack of teachers was a major handicap for all of us. Another student Santosh Devi expressed similar concerns. The students have sought adequate staff. The locals are aghast as well. They said their repeated pleas for remedial measures have been ignored. |
