Altaf Bukhari set to announce third front formation with other PDP rebels | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 22: Amid the lull being witnessed over the state's political landscape at present, there is a very important political development related to the announcement of the third front likely to take place within a week's time. Sources privy to this development divulged that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and President Democratic Party (Nationalist) (DPN) Ghulam Hassan Mir are all set to announce a joint forum which would emerge as a third front in Kashmir and is going to challenge PDP and national conference during the forthcoming polls in the state. "Besides Bukhari, Dilawar Mir and Ghulam Hassan Mir, there are other political leaders also who will declare their entry into the forum. It is going to be an interesting situation to watch as there would be now four regional parties in Kashmir Valley alone that will take each other heads on during the elections- they are PDP, NC, PC and the third front," says a political leader privy to the confabulations taking place at present inside the corridors. Another senior leader stated that Altaf Bukhari and Ghulam Hassan Mir already share a very cordial relationship and Dilwar Mir too is the part of the family. "It wouldn't be difficult for the leaders of this group to come to common terms. If they even manage to win four to five seats during the coming assembly elections, they will have a major say in state's entangled political system," said the political functionary. Meanwhile, earlier when the news came to fore last year, all these leaders in their separate statements said that they have no idea or knowledge about the formation of a third front in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Parliamentary and assembly elections in the state. Senior PDP leader and former Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir said "Neither I have any grievances with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after nor have any idea about the formation of any third front. Meeting some friend or relation in private capacity should not be attributed to any political activity. Can't politicians meet even as relatives or friends?" In a similar statement another senior PDP leader and former Finance Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari had said" I am in Delhi. I don't have any idea or knowledge about the formation of a third front in Jammu and Kashmir." President Democratic Party Nationalist and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir said 'I have no idea about it. These are just rumours". The statements from Dilawar Mir, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and Ghulam Hassan Mir on formation of third front at that time amid reports about the formation of third front and defection of some legislators from PDP and BJP to National Conference and other parties. The reason as per credible sources about the leaders denying the reports of they coming together was that they wanted to keep their cars to closer to their chests in order to strike at the right place and at the right time. It is yet to be seen whether next week is the much anticipated right time? |
