US President Trump berates Pakistan for Pulwama attack | | | Both the UN and the US have expressed deep concern over the recent IED blast in Lethpora in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. No doubt the UN has suggested to India and Pakistan to resolve differences through talks but the scope for talks seems to be over after the recent armed attack by terrorists on a CRPF convoy. The US President Donald Trump has described as a "horrible situation" the suicide car combing in Kashmir in which 40 Indian paramilitary personnel were martyred, and said he was getting reports on it and would issue a statement. The suicide attack has led to escalation of tension between India and Pakistan and Trump that it would be "wonderful" if the two South Asian neighbours get along. "I have watched. I have got a lot of reports on it. We will have comment (on it) at an appropriate time. It would be wonderful if they (India and Pakistan) get along," "That (attack) was a horrible situation. We are getting reports. We will have a statement to put out," Trump said. Amid rising tension with Pakistan in the wake of Pulwama attack, veteran Congress leader and former J&K Sadr-e-Riyasat Karan Singh has cautioned that it seemed the country was moving towards "yet another conflagration" which could have "incalculable consequence". Singh also rued that there has unfortunately been a "strong anti-Kashmiri backlash" around the country in the aftermath of the February 14 attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district that left over 40 personnel dead. "Having lived through all the Indo-Pakistan wars from 1947 through 1965 (J&K), 1971 (Bangladesh), and 1999 (Kargil), it seems that we are moving towards yet another conflagration which could have incalculable consequence," the 87-year-old leader said in a statement. While the killing of 40 CRPF men is a matter of great regret and deep anger, I would urge that with enhanced technological capabilities on both side, we should also seriously consider other modalities of retaliation/retribution from the diplomatic, commercial and economic dimensions," he said. His remarks on anti-Kashmiri backlash comes amid reports of Kashmiri people being targeted in many parts of the country in the aftermath of the deadly attack. Now that Pakistan has been isolated because of the mistakes of the Army and it seems that Pakistan Army do not bother about Prime Minister, Imran Khan. Imran Khan is still in favour of talks for resolving various issues but he seems to be on the back foot with growing criticism from various countries. Even the smaller nations too have berated Pakistan for the attack. It is part of the campaign that Imran Khan is not satisfied with the charges leveled against the terrorists. He still wants sufficient proof so that he is able to initiate action. If Masood Azhar is blamed for the Pulwama attack why should not Imran Khan arrest him? Why the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in fact the entire Government, in Islamabad provides shelter to Masood Azhar, Hafiz Saeed and Syed Salahuddin, who head various terrorists outfits? It is because the Army in Pakistan support them. |
