JU holds first advisory committee meeting of UGC-SAP II programme | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 26: Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu chaired a meeting to monitor and assess the progress of the research work done by the Department of Botany, University of Jammu during 2018-2019 under Special Assistance Programme SAP-II (DRS-II) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Prof Dhar extended a formal welcome to the UGC nominee and outlined the rich academic and research legacy of the Department of Botany. He also encouraged the faculty members to envision the novel research ideas in their projects and assured the Department of all possible support in generating infrastructural facilities required for undertaking quality research. While appreciating the quality of academic and research achievements of the Department, Prof. Subir Bera from the Centre For Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Calcutta, Kolkata who was the External expert of the Advisory Committee and UGC nominee for SAP II in his remarks expressed his satisfaction about the overall progress made by the Department in general and during the assessment period from April 2018 to date, in particular. Congratulating the Department for the excellent maintenance of the plant germ plasm in the Botanical garden, Prof Bera gave suggestions to create a moss repository and the fern house in the Garden besides unanimously approving the purchase of several research equipments. During the meeting, various activities conducted by the Department of Botany and research achievements made by the Department under SAP II programme approved by the UGC were presented and explained in detail by Prof Yash Pal Sharma, the Coordinator of SAP II. |
