Sajad Lone desserts BJP, doesn't want to become its CM Candidate | Who is leaving who? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 26: It is official now that the BJP has now been deserted by its one time close ally Sajad Lone as he made it public that he has snapped the ties with the party a long ago and during the coming polls, his party and the BJP will contest separately. "Please understand that I am not an ally of the BJP in the state," Sajad Lone said in an interview with the New Delhi based TV news channel when asked why is he opposing the BJP's policies in the state when he himself is the party's ally. Meanwhile, Sajad's statement has clarified the otherwise entangled scenario in which it was widely being speculated that Sajad Lone is going to be the party's Chief Ministerial candidate in the state. BJP had earlier drawn flak over the reports of choosing chief ministerial candidate outside the party with many political groups taunting it for such a bizarre measure. Former chief minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah has also cornered the BJP over its choice of selecting Chief Ministerial candidate. "The BJPs bravado to have its own chief minister from Jammu fell flat twice, first by stitching alliance with 28-member PDP in 2015 and later while unsuccessfully attempting to form the government by surrendering before a party with two MLAs from North Kashmir", Omar Abdullah has said in his earlier statement, asking with which face the BJP will now go to the electors of Jammu in upcoming elections, who know that after seeking their mandate they will again fall in the trap and lap of a few MLAs from Kashmir to share the power. Former Minister and senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar on December 10 last year asked BJP to explain why it ignored its 25 MLAs and selected a CM candidate from Kashmir who has mere 2 seats in the assembly. He also questioned Dr Jitendra Singh's assertions, asking that if there was such a lack of trust in other parties of the state, the BJP should have selected its own CM candidate from the party itself. "Why were you (Jitendra Singh) or Kavinder Gupta or any other BJP leader not chosen as CM candidate of the party from the state. How can you people convince your own voters after such a decision has been taken by your party," Akhtar asked. Meanwhile, what dropped the enough hints of growing wedges between the BJP and Sajad Lone was the recent event when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state. Lone who who till then was BJP's ally in the state and was also a cabinet minister from BJP's quota during the collation government wasn't even sent an invite to attend the inauguration ceremony. Such an action has led many to believe that the BJP is now trying to distance itself from Lone and there are chances that the party may abandon him as election dates approach nearer. |
