Army's appeal to mothers: Prevent your sons from becoming terrorists 3/9/2019 11:06:40 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 9: Indian Army Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon on Saturday urged the Kashmiri mothers to "stop" their children from going on the paths of militancy and terrorism. Speaking at the passing out parade of Jammu and Kashmir light infantry, Dhillon asserted that for those who have joined the militants' ranks and want to return, the Amry will ensure safety and security and will help them to get back into the mainstream. "I appeal to all the Kashmiri mothers, please stop your children from going on the path of terrorism and militancy; bring those who have gone astray to the mainstream. I assure you of their safety & security," Lt Gen KJS Dhillion was quoted by ANI as saying. Indian Army is also currently conducting a Territorial recruitment rally in four districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Udhampur from March 5 to 13. According to reports more than 3000 aspirants have so far taken part in the recruitment rally. After the Pulwama attack where 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives and air strikes at Pakistan's Balakot by the Indian Air Force, the enthusiasm among the Kashmiri youth seems to be high with a large number of youth wanting to join the Army ranks. According to an Army official quoted by The Tribune, only 89 youths have so far been able to clear the tests, as the youth lack skills and guidance. In the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, IAF had carried out air strikes across the LoC on February 26 and on February 26 successfully thwarted the Pakistan Air Force's attempt to intrude into the Indian air space. During the interception, IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan crash landed in Pakistan but was returned by Pakistan within 2 days due to international pressure.
