PCJ, Google Initiative hold workshop to aware people on social media use, fake news | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 9: To aware people on social media use and recent trend of circulating 'fake news', the Press Club of Jammu in collaboration with Google Initiative on Saturday organised a day long workshop here in the banquet Hall of Press Club. The Google officials from the Gurgaon based Google Headquarter besides the trainers from the state of Jammu and Kashmir threw light on social media boons and banes and its handling. Teaching fellow from Google Newslab Geetika Rustagi, who had come all the way from Google head office spoke on many aspects related to social media especially the Youtube. She aware the gathering of nearly 100 people comprising journalists, students from different universities, teaching faculty about the Youtube and it's now a day use in day to day life. "Youtube is no more a source of entertain but it has now also become an information provider and a source of social connectivity," she added and said that the app is also being used by various news channels and media house to stay linked with the viewers. She however, created awareness on its handling by the users vis-a-vis security and safety related matters. Trainers Prof Archana Kumari from Department of Mass Communication, Central University Jammu and senior journalist Deepak Khajuria also delivered lectures on various topics like Digital Safety and Security, You Tube for election and Photo and Video Verifications. In his introductory address, Deepak Khajuria spoke on the idea behind organising this event in Jammu. The members from the Management Committee, Press Club of Jammu including Ajay Bachloo, Surjit Singh, Vishal Bharti and senior journalists Sanjit Khajuria, Anil Bhat, Sominder Koul, Sunny Dua, Vivek Sharma, Rajneesh Parihan, Yogesh Sagotra also attended the event. |
