Indo-Pak military clashes on LoC shoot up post Pulwama attack | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 9: The Pulwama terror attack on February 14 that killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel seems to be escalating skirmishes between India and Pakistan. The armed forces of both the nations have been exchanging heavy firings regularly now. Since February 15, there have been 230 ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC). From the beginning of the year till the Pulwama attack the ceasefire violations stood at 267. The last three weeks have been extremely tense with heavy shelling form both the sides including heavy artillery using the 155 MM Howitzers; something that has not happened in years. While there have been regular confrontations at the LoC, the number of anti-terror operations in Kashmir has also gone up. Since the Pulwama attack 16 terrorists have been killed while over a dozen security personnel have also lost their lives. Before Pulwama attack, 28 terrorists were killed. The increased hostilities on the ground have been overshadowed by the aerial strike of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on a terror camp in Balakot and subsequent air raids by Pakistan targeting Indian military installations. Over the last few days, amid the heightened tensions, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has visited forward locations getting an assessment of preparedness on the ground. Last week he visited the Nagrota-based White Night Corp where a lot of action has happened recently. On Saturday (March 9) the Rawat visited Western Command HQ and interacted with the officers there. |
