Cluster University of Jammu hosts Ist BSC 2019

Jammu, Mar 13: School of Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu organised a Mega two day 1st Basic Science Conference ( BSC) at Convention Centre.
Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, Advisor to Governor, J&K State and also Pro-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu inaugurated the conference which aims at honing and enhancing the scientific temperament of the young students towards research and innovation.
Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour. The topic of the Conference is Recent Advances in Basic Sciences towards Research and Innovation. Eminent Scientists and Academicians from across the Country have been invited to deliver lectures on varied topics and Innovations in Science during the two day conference. The conference is attended by the students and faculty of science discipline from the Post Graduate Integrated Schools and Constituent colleges of Cluster University and neighbouring universities.
Khursheed Ahmed Ganai lauded the efforts of CLUJ in organising a much needed conference of contemporary relevance that would instil scientific acumen in the young learners and provide them basic knowledge of various recent discoveries and innovations happening in the field of Science and Technology. He expressed an earnest desire that the university should produce some renowned scientists that can bring laurels to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He accentuated that the conference will trigger lot of scientific thinking in the students and faculty and strongly advised them to take keen interest in their science classes, further urging them to ask questions to full satisfaction so that we can produce proficient researchers in science. He also exhorted them to think of problems specific to their areas like soil erosion, solid waste management, vegetation and start working on them.
Prof. Manoj K. Dhar in his address, opined that scientific ventures of this kind for students and faculty would go a long way in promoting scientific know how and spirit which is imperative in the modern world. He added that universities should not only disseminate but also contribute and generate knowledge; also "Catch them Young" so that the students have ample opportunities to follow their scientific pursuits and cherish their scientific journey.
Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu and a reputed Scientist welcomed the distinguished guests. She urged that the conference was an endeavour towards bringing together eminent experts in various streams of Science from all over the country wherein they would provide fresh and fundamental insights on applied research in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and also Geology, thereby upgrading the scientific knowledge of the students. She further stressed that the University is committed to create and sustain a community of life-long learners that fosters critical thinking, research and development and scientific inquiry. She informed that the conference shall provide the young students and faculty with a platform to express their ideas and interact with experts of international repute.
Prof. A.K. Koul, Former Dean Academic Affairs and Head, Deptt. of Bio Sciences, University of Jammu and BGSBU Rajouri, Prof. Ram K. Sharma, Principal Scientist Bio Technology, CSIR Institute of Himalayan Bio Resource Technology, Palampur were the Resource Persons for the afternoon technical sessions chaired by Prof. Rajiv Gupta, Former DCD, University of Jammu. Prof. K.K Kapoor, Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu was the Resource Person for the evening session, chaired by Prof. Geeta Sumbali, Dean Life Sciences, University of Jammu.
