Complainant seeks departmental inquiry, suspension of SHO
SHO Bishnah allegedly beats girl, victim attempts suicide
3/13/2019 11:59:18 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13: Violating the provisions of law, Station House Officer allegedly entered into the house at Bishnah, Jammu and ostensibly provoked a girl present there to commit suicide by allegedly subjecting her to metal torture.
Parents of the victim demanded immediate suspension of the delinquent officer and initiation of departmental inquiry to render justice to their daughter who is on death bed.
The complaint lodged with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu-MK Sinha reads that on 08-03-2019 the applicant was staying for a night at the residence of her relative at Sarore, Bishnah. She had gone there to see a doctor for medical examination on 09-03-2019 and her relatives with whom she was staying were facilitating her medical check-up.
The complainant stated that approximately 10 policemen of Police Station, Bishnah along with the estranged wife (Sonia Kumari) of complianant's relative's son (Parveen Kumar) and mother of Sonia Kumari forcibly entered into the house of applicant's relative at Bishnah and started beating the complainant.
The complainant alleged that everyone present in the house including the old aged mother and father of Parveen Kumar were surprised to see police barging forcibly at around 11:15 PM and abusing everyone.
Parveen Kumar who is also a Police Constable and a celebrated weight lifter in Police Department tried to enquire from the policemen as to why they were mishandling with the complainant and other family members. Not only this the policemen forcibly started dragging Parveen Kumar alongwith the complainant towards the vehicle and intended to take them to the Police Station, alleged the complainant.
On reaching the Police Station the complainant fainted and was provided first aid to gain her conscious.
SHO Police Station, Bishnah Rattan Singh also came to the residence of Parveen Kumar and started hurling choicest abuses and forcibly took Parveen Kumar to Police Station.
"It is almost 12:00 in the night, the said SHO started enquiring from Parveen Kumar as to why he is not paying maintenance to his wife;" the complaint alleged adding that 09-03-2019 the SHO Police Station, Bishnah, Jammu summoned the parents of the complainant abused the old age mother and father of the complainant and her young sister.
The SHO harassed the complainant to an extent that he abetted/ provoked her to commit suicide and on 09-03-2019 she consumed poison and has been declared critical by doctors at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu, reads the complaint.
The complainant is not in a position to recover and the doctors have said that there are meager chances of her recovery. Not only this the complainant and her parents who have deposed against the SHO Police Station Bishnah have been threatened by policemen of Police Post, Chatha, Jammu to change their statements that they have given against the said SHO.
"That the complainant has suffered for none of her fault, she was harassed mentally by SHO, Police Station, Bishnah, Jammu and he also abused her parents. The complainant could not bear the humiliation that she made an attempt to kill herself. The sole reason for attempting to kill herself is SHO, Police Station, Bishnah, estranged wife of Parveen Kumar and the mother-in-law of Parveen Kumar. The SHO, Police Station, Bishnah, Jammu who belongs to a law enforcing agency has miserably failed to come for the rescue of the complainant. Without giving her patient hearing he abused and humiliated her to the extent that the complainant tried to end her life," reads the complaint.
The complainant demanded departmental inquiry against SHO, Police Station, Bishnah, and place him under suspension. Being a police officer he has miserably failed in upholding his duties and has provoked the complainant to commit suicide.
