SHO strikes a deal: Accused allowed to get married; escape | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 13: A station House Officer (SHO) of one of the police stations in the outskirts of Jammu city has extracted huge sum of money from a groom, who was accused by a girl of sexual exploitation on the pretext of marrying her. According to sources, a complaint of sexual exploitation was registered by a girl against a young man about to get married, however, the SHO sensing the precarious situation of the 'would be groom' struck a deal with his family members for allowing them two days to solemnize the marriage of their . Sources also disclosed that the victim girl was being pressurized to withdraw her complaint so that the matter could be hushed up easily. Sources further said that the young woman had registered her complaint wherein she accused the youth of physically exploiting her after which the police had to file a case, but when the police went to arrest the youth, it was discovered that he had been getting married and his entire household was preparing for the marriage. "In such a situation, the police exerted pressure on the young man as he was asked to stall the marriage ceremony and proceed to the police station but a deal between the family of the groom and SHO diffused the tension to some extent as it was assured that the youth will be provided time for two days so that he could marry," added sources. Sources confirmed that a hefty amount was paid to the SHO under the deal following which the police team returned without apprehending the accused. Now, that the young man has got married a day earlier, the pressure is being mounted on the girl to take back her complaint after taking some money from the youth's family. The girl is being told that nothing can happen now. Meanwhile, the accused youth after getting married has been allowed to disappear so that it can be entered in the record that he had absconded. |
