Deferring Assembly elections in J&K undemocratic: Former Director Information | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 13: Narinder Singh former Director Information in a statement issued here has welcomed the announcement of the parliamentary elections in J&K along with the other parts of country ,but he criticised the decision of the central government in deferring Assembly elections in the State of J&K and termed the action as undemocratic .Mr Singh said that security reasons, cannot be a genuine plea when the Panchayat and ULB elections in the state held immediately before, had been quite peaceful and there upon a decision has been taken by the government for holding parliamentary Elections in J&K right now.He added that The Home Minister during All party meeting held recently in Delhi had also assured to provide all forces for simultaneous Polls. However Singh also hailed the second thought of the Election Commission of India after the strong criticism of all the political parties,to call a high level meet to assess the possibilities of holding the elections also.Mr Singh suggested that holding Assembly election now will be more convenient and economical than the elections in the State later. |
