| People demand bridge on Ranbir Canal at Mishriwala | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 17: Residents of Panchayat Mishriwala and its adjoining area demanded immediate construction of Bridge on Ranbir canal at Mishriwala. Today people from Panchayat Mishriwala Channo chack, Bhalwal and Kangar gathered in large number to protest against the PWD division 2.
Since the tender was called by the Executive Engineer PWD about two months and work was allotted to contactor about one month back.
The tender was allotted on same date for construction of two bridges at Mishriwala as well as Simble wala. It is pertain to mention that the work on Simble wala has been started and no action has been taken by the department of PWD for construction work at Mishriwala. The public of the area demanded immediate start of work by the Department since a lot of accidents have taken place and more than 30 people have lost their lives due to non availability of crash guards on both sides of the bridge. Delay in start of construction work by the concerned department will force the people to come on the roads and government will be responsible for that. While speaking on the occasion capt Bihari Singh Chib requested for special attention of Honorable Governor of Jammu Kashmir state for initiating action for the safety of the public. Madan Lal Narad General Secretary of the shopkeepers union Mishriwala said that the Bridge has become a death trap for the public. If the work is not started immediately it is likely to be delayed by one year since the water in the canal will start flowing in second week of the April. |
