Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 17: Despite the Union Government having given its nod to reservation in promotions, prior to imposition of model code of conduct, the party has faced ridicule especially from reserved category masses, as only two out of seven BJP MLAs from SC community demanded implementation of reservation in promotion. According official data obtained from J&K Legislative Assembly through RTI only two members during the budget session in 2017 had raised the issue of reservation in promotion. "MLA Samba, Dr Devinder Manyal and MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj are members of Legislative Assembly who raised the issue", RTI reply vide no 527/PIO/28/01/2019, which went viral on social media read. Pertinently, seven BJP's SC MLAs, three from Jammu district ex-MLA R S Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat, who has quit the party and joined NC, ex-MLA Raipur Domana, Bali Bhagat and ex-MLA Khour Dr Krishan Lal, ex-MLA Chenani Dina Nath and ex-MLA Ramban Neelam Langeh remained silent over the issue. "JKRCEA, an organization for government employees from reserved category, SCs, STs and OSCs jointly struggled a lot for their cause", said an activist from SC community and added their struggle got huge support from media rather than their elected representatives. However, according to a viral campaign on social media, there was no mention of the BJP. "In Jammu division, three other MLAs who come from reserved category i.e. BJP ex-MLA Kalakote Abdul Ghani Kohli, PDP MLA from Rajouri, Qamar Hussain, NC ex-MLA from Mendhar Javed Rana and PDP ex-MLA from Darhal Choudhary Zulfkar all are from Scheduled Tribe Community", said the activist. |
