Contractors threaten to boycott polls over non-payments | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Mar 17: Taking strong note of government order related to fixing of 15% cap with regard to release of payments against the work done, the various contractors in district Kishtwar today held a general meeting under the chairmanship of senior member Abdul Rashid Butt and pledged to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections in case the government failed to withdraw the controversial order in which the treasuries across the state have been directed not to draw work done bills beyond 15% of the works executed. Speaking during the meeting, the contractors call for immediate withdrawal of the order which is badly affecting the contractors across the state as they fail to clear the payments to the labourers beside also to the material suppliers. They said that thousands of labourers are waiting for the payments since last several months adding that in case the government did not order the release of the payments against the work done, the contractors along with the labourers will boycott the elections and will hit the roads, beside will stop all developmental projects undergoing in state sector viz R&B, PMGSY, irrigation, flood control, tourism and other state sectors. They said that why the contractors who had completed 100% work done should accept 15% payments from the government.
