JKFPR for revival of ruptured bond between Pandits, Muslims | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 17: J&K Forum for Peace & Reconciliation met to hold deliberations on the issues affecting the State. At the outset, the members of the forum paid rich tribute to Late Jatinder Bakshi, the Founding President and also resolved to carry forward his vision and road map and initiatives for the peace and reconciliation in the State among various Communities especially between Kashmiri Muslims and Kashmir Pandits. Earlier, Dr Vinay Thusoo, in his welcome address read out the agenda of the meeting and emphasised on the need for holding deliberations with the cross section of the society who resonates with the idea of dialogue and reconciliation that too in a situation when reality has become the causality in conflict. Prof Ashok Aima, the founder member of the forum in his address said that there is a profound need to take large mandate of the civil society so that the atmosphere of reconciliation is created and incremental steps are to be taken to revive and make the forum vibrant so that conversion across the spectrum is bridged for larger interest of the State. Prof B. L Kaul, Treasurer and Secretary General of the forum recalled his association with late Sh Bakshi Sb. who was a missionary in a true sense and also resonates with the idea that peace & reconciliation is only possible with the concurrence of the majority community. J.S Chauhan, the founder member of the forum said that the forum should should also aim to involve the people who suffer and who were made to suffer and further said that delegation of the forum should visit the migrant camps in Jammu and also visit Kashmir to bridge the mistrust between the communities. Prof Monika Sethi also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of Dr Vinay Thusoo, Sr. Vice-President of the forum to revive the forum after untimely demise of Sh, Jatinder Bakshi. Ramesh Hangloo, outlined the need for reconciliation and assured his help to promote the work of the forum. |
