Early Times Report RAJOURI, Apr 3: District Election Officer Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today launched an Android-based mobile application 'Sahulat' to facilitate elderly voters. The district administration has developed the app to reach out to the voters who are 90 years old or more. The DEO said working on the theme of Accessible Elections and to facilitate the old-age voters a special initiative has been taken to encourage the elderly voters to participate in the elections. He further said that voters will have to provide input with few details, like name and age, distance of polling station, EPIC number, Assembly Constituency and other details. The voters can request for the facilities like the provision of the wheelchair, vehicle for transportation and any helper who will assist them during casting of vote. The app is designed to aid the old-age voters' only. The app is free of cost and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. There are two versions of the app one for the citizen where they can fill their requirements and other for the concerned officer who can access and provide data regarding necessary arrangements. The app has simple and user-friendly interface with very simple login operation so that everyone can use it easily. 'Sahulat' app is an initiative of District Election Office Rajouri and has been developed by National Informatics Centre, Rajouri.
RO Udhampur reviews poll preparedness at Kathua KATHUA: Returning Officer (RO) Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Vikas Kundal today reviewed election arrangements put in place across Kathua district. The RO reviewed the communication and transportation plan formulated for smooth conduct of Lok Sabha Election. The plan includes pre-poll, Poll and Post Poll, Monitoring & reporting from polling parties to District Control room and transportation of polling staff and election material. The Nodal Officers were instructed to facilitate members of armed police force and army personnel serving outside the State to prepare postal ballot papers after following due procedure to facilitate them to cast their votes. The meeting held a detailed discussion regarding implementation of communication plan, planned dispatch of polling parties and security arrangements for polling staff at far flung areas. Contingency plan for meeting any eventuality, ballot paper printing and strong room arrangements for EVMs besides Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) for voters were also discussed threadbare. The RO directed the Nodal Officer for Transport Management to prepare separate Transport plan for Persons with Disability(PwDs). Nodal Officer for SVEEP, Amar Jyoti Raina, informed the meeting that number of activities have been carried out which included election quiz, poll process, awareness on ethical voting to make people aware about the voting procedure and rectify their doubts. The demonstration of EVM and VVPATs was also presented for educating, motivating and facilitating voters, he added. Over 13 lakh electors to exercise right to franchise in Baramulla PC on April 11 JAMMU: Over 13 lakh electors will exercise the right to vote to elect their representative from Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency which is going to polls on April 11 - the first phase of the 2019-General Elections. The Parliamentary Constituency is spread over 15 Assembly segments of three districts of Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora in north Kashmir. For smooth conduct of elections, the election authorities have established 1749 polling stations at 1387 locations. Of the total 13,08,541 electors, 6,74,417 are males, 6,34,083 females and 41 transgender. The constituency has 7953 Persons with Disability (PwD) voters and 157 marked as VVIP (Voter Verification and Information Programme) electors. The district Kupwara has 4,38,285 electors including, 2,25,259 males, 2,13,016 females and 10 transgender. These include 1896 PwD and 19 VVIP marked voters, who will cast their votes at 578 polling stations set up at 484 locations. Similarly, Baramulla District has 6,36,459 electors including 3,27,933 males, 308512 females, 14 transgenders, 3484 PwD and 116 VVIP marked electors. As many as 859 polling stations have been established at 692 locations. Likewise, Bandipora district has 2,33,797 electors- 1,21,225 males, 1,12,555 females, 17 transgenders, 2573 PwD and 22 VVIP marked electors. The authorities have set up 312 polling stations at 211 locations in the district. The Assembly segments of the Parliamentary Constituency are Karnah, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara, Langate in district Kupwara. Uri, Rafiabad, Sopore, Sangrama, Baramulla, Gulmarg and Pattan in Baramulla District and Gurez, Bandipora and Sonawari in Bandipora district DEA Udhampur organizes awareness camp for service voters UDHAMPUR: District Election Authority, Udhampur today organized an awareness camp for the service voters of the District under the supervision of District Election Officer (DEO), Dr. Piyush Singla, here at Head Quarter of 87 Mountain Brigade Northern command . The participants, comprising over 350 soldiers, were briefed by the Master Trainer about the process of Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) for service voters. Deputy District Election Officer, Dr. Kusum Chib, District Social Welfare Officer, Sana Khan besides other Officers/Officials of civil Administration were present. The Dy DEO, highlighted the importance of vote and encouraged service voters to take part in political process to strengthen the democracy. Meanwhile, DSWO, Sana Khan, also made the participants aware about their right to vote and value of every single vote in the election. |
