NHPC team visits Salal Power Station

Jammu, Apr 3: Janardan Choudhary, Director (Technical), NHPC Limited visited Salal Power Station. The visiting dignitary was welcomed by Himanshu Shekhar, Chief General Manager, HOP, Salal Power Station and other Senior Officers of NHPC at Jyotipuram.
Director (Technical) accompanied by HOP, Salal visited various components of the Power Station viz Dam, Power House, Tail Race tunnel and Switch yard. At Power House, the visiting dignitary was apprised about the Operation and Maintenance Activities being taken up at Salal Power Station, highlighting the Modernisation of Power House, Renovation of Project Colony, Roads, Guest Houses and CSR Activities.
HOP also apprised Director Technical regarding the significant achievements of the Power Station during the year 2018-19. With the installation of New modified runners under Renovation and Modernisation Program, highest ever daily as well as monthly generation and enhanced annual generation of 3412 MUs against the MOU target of 3300 MUs for the year 2018-19 could be achieved. The Power Station also achieved Annual Plant Availability Factor of 84% against the target of 78%. Further, under the R&M Program, installation of new digital Governors, Excitation System and Scada System has also been carried out successfully to improve the operation and control of the Power Station. An online Flow Monitoring System has also been installed to measure the flow of water through the Turbines. During his visit, Chaudhary inaugurated the recently commissioned Captive Bay and newly renovated VIP Guest House of the Power Station.With the Commissioning of Captive Bay, Power Station will save approximately Rs. 2 Crores annually in respect of consumption of electricity for Colony and other establishment.
In his address to the executives of Power Station, Director(Technical) expressed happiness and satisfaction over the running, maintenance and modernisation activities, taken up at Salal Power Station for enhancing the performance which resulted in record generation from Salal. He appreciated the Salal Team for the achievements and hoped that they shall continue to perform with the same zeal and passion for making Salal 'Pride of NHPC Limited'
