Both BJP, Congress number one enemy of PoK DPs: Rajiv Chuni
4/3/2019 11:02:40 PM
Early Times Report
rajouri, Apr 3: Further intensifying his election campaign, prominent leader of PoK Displaced Persons, Rajiv Chuni, who is contesting as independent candidate in the Lok Sabha polls from Jammu -Poonch Parliamentary seat, today toured Chowki Handan, Kalsian, Jhangad, Laam, Dassal-Karaian and other areas in border belt of Rajouri district. While addressing number of public meetings, Rajiv Chuni launched a scathing attack on both BJP and Congress, which, he said, are number one enemy of the PoK Displaced community. "While the successive Governments never took any serious initiative to rehabilitate the Displaced community, these two parties treated us as mere vote bank during the elections and provided only lip service in return," he alleged.
Highlighting the supreme sacrifices of PoK Displaced Persons in defence of border since 1947, Rajiv Chuni lamented that promises made to the people settled along the Line of Control after their migration after partition. "Even the promise to settle these border inhabitants at safer places by giving them five marla plots was also not fulfilled with the result that our community is still facing frequent migration to schools at the time of border shelling," he added. Holding both Congress and BJP responsible for the woes of PoK DPs, Rajiv Chuni said that Congress delayed the package till fag end of its Government in the State while BJP reduced the same from more than nine thousand crores to mere two thousand crores. Though no political party took initiative for the PoK DPs, but BJP and Congress are number one enemy of the community," he added. Rajiv Chuni further alleged that these two parties are biggest exploiters of Jammu also, which never remained on their agenda despite the fact that both the parties had been getting vote and support from this region. Rajiv Chuni exhorted the PoK Displaced Persons to teach both BJP and Congress a lesson by rejecting their candidates. Rajiv Chuni, along with his supporters, was accorded rousing welcome by the PoK Displaced community, settled there and they extended their full support to him. They opined that Rajiv Chnuni has been serving the Displaced community for the last three decades while on the other hand, other candidates have only assurances and hollow promises.
