Reasi admin overlooks payment procedures to hired vehicles
Allows fake Taxi Union Agent to make payment
4/11/2019 10:20:14 PM
Early Times Report
Reasi, Apr 11: In a bizarre case of fraud, a fake Cab Union agent of Katra has made payment to the owners of commercial vehicles which were engaged for Panchayat elections last years by ARTO on behalf of the District Administration.
Reports said, last year in 2018 during panchayat elections, ARTO Reasi had engaged two Tata Wingers for election purposes for Tehsil Katra and the payment for the hired vehicles had to be made by the concerned administration through direct payment into the owners' bank account.
"My two Tata Wingers were hired by ARTO Reasi for panchayat elections and the fare of Rs 1300 per day was fixed per vehicle, which remained engaged for 9 days and the total payment for the two vehicles reached to Rs 23,400," said the owner of the vehicles Chain Singh resident of Ransoo Shiv Khori.
He said as per rules, the payment was to be credited to the account directly by the administration Reasi but shockingly an agent was deputed to make payment through cheque instead of direct transfer in account.
"The payment was made through cheque which was stamped under the name of 'Maxi Cab Driver Union Katra' account number 0235010100001549 JK Bank Katra. The payment was made in two cheques with an amount of Rs 10200 Cheque No 143020-182051201 JK Bank Katra and other cheque was also of the same amount which was Rs 3000 less from the total amount," he said.
If sources are to be believed there was no such union in Katra with the name of 'Maxi Cab Driver Union Katra' which clearly shows that an agent was planted by the administration to make payment by deducting commission. He appealed to the DC Reasi and Div Com Jammu to look into matter and demanded action against the erring officials behind this scam.
