Katra, Apr 11: The School of Civil Engineering (SoCE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized one day workshop on "Software Applications in Civil Engineering" to make aware B.Tech. students (Civil Engineering) about various software in the field of Civil Engineering and their scope in the specialized services.
Prof. Rajeev Garg, Head, SoCE, SMVDU, extended a welcome address to the industry speakers and delivered a talk on the importance of computer interface in the field of Civil Engineering. Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Faculty, SoCE, SMVDU, coordinated with industry experts and organized this event to enhance students' vision and to make them aware about the latest development in the field. Er. Sarabpreet Singh, Application Engineer, AutoDesk, delivered an informative presentation, highlighting the application of AutoDesk software in the field of Civil Engineering with a case study of "Jammu-Udhampur Highway". The presentation covered the application of various software like AutoCAD, 3DS Max, BIM360 and REVIT in the field of Civil Engineering. Er. Bhavuk Kohli, Application Engineer, Bentley Systems, delivered a talk, highlighting a range of Bentley softwares and their applications in the field of Civil Engineering, and further elaborated the job perspective of software knowledge equipped Civil Engineers in the industry.
Sahil Kumar, Sales Manager, AutoDESK & Bentley, also presented the company profiles. The workshop concluded with a healthy interaction among students, faculty members, and the speakers. This event was organized as a part of the constant endeavour of SMVD University for Academia-Industry interaction for effective and enhanced learning of students.
