| Awareness prog on legal protection against Child Abuse held | | |
UDHAMPUR, APRIL 12-: District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Udhampur today hosted a day-long awareness programme on legal protection against Child Abuse and Sexual Violence (POCSO) here at Shivalik College of Education Udhampur.
Awareness Camp was held under the chairmanship of Sub Judge Sandeep Kour, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur. Child Psychologist Malika Gautam Principal of host college Dr Vikarm Gulati, Retainer Lawyer Sanjit Kumar were present also present.
The session was organized to enlighten the students about protection of Children from Sexual offence Act.
The programme started with a brief introduction about POCSO by Principal Dr Vikram Gulati, Retainer Lawyer Sanjit Kumar and Child Psychologist Malika Gautam, followed by a detailed information about the Act by Sub Judge, Secretary DLSA Sandeep Kour .
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary DLSA explained in detail the child sexual abuse and rights of children through a power point presentation. She said that the aim of organizing such programme is to aware every child of his/her rights guaranteed under different laws and about ways to fight any kind of physical, sexual, emotional or psychological abuse at the hands of any persons at home or outside home. She also spoke on the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection Act and POSCO laws.
The programme was attended by students, teachers, members of DLSA Udhampur, lawyers and others. There was also an interactive sessions wherein the queries of students were answered.
