JVFA, LSSA representatives meet IG Traffic seek redressal of issues | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 26: Representatives of Jammu Vegetable and Fruit Association (JVFA), Live Stocks Supplier Association (LSSA) today called on IGP Traffic J&K Jammu in his office chamber and discussed about the traffic scenario. According to press release, the JVFA and LSSA members emphasized that in case of down traffic, the vehicles loaded with fruit, vegetable, chicken, goats, sheep's and other food items remain halted for days together due to frequent blockage of NBW.44 and down traffic results in damage of vegetables, fruits, live stocks. During the meeting it was examined that there is one way traffic on Nitta-44 from Udhampur to Qazigund and vice versa with effect from October, 2018 in view of the ongoing construction and widening work of Ni101.44 as well as frequent landslide, shooting stones at multiple places and bad road condition. Also, most of the time vehicles remain stranded for days together due to bad road condition and frequent landslides. Dealers of vehicles loaded with vegetables, fruits, live stocks are facing tremendous problems due to rise in temperature in Jammu region and their long halt age between Lakhanpur to Udhampur stretch causes damage to fruits, vegetables and death of live stocks (sheep, goats, chicken) etc. In the meeting it was decided that the vehicles carrying fresh fruits, vegetables and livestock may not be stopped unnecessarily en route anywhere between Lakhanpur to Udhampur. In case of down traffic these may be allowed to halt on Patnitop to Batote road stretch where the temperature is moderate and chances of loss or damage to the live stocks and fresh fruits/vegetables is minimal. Also DySP Traffic Ramban shall liaise with all the concerned in this regard and push the vehicles towards the Kashmir valley at appropriate times during lean periods. No such vehicles would be allowed after evening hours towards Kashmir when the movement of security force convoys is scheduled for the next morning. Further, after the opening of the Mughal road, these vehicles can utilize the road to reach the Kashmir Valley, it added. |
