In Udhampur, enquiry ordered against ZEO for 'favouritism' | Illegal attachments made, arrears released on pick & choose basis | | Early Times Report jammu, May 4: The Zonal Education Officer of Ghordhi in Udhampur has come under scanner for allegedly indulging in favouritism while making attachments of teachers and releasing the arrears. Sources told Early Times that the ZEO has been blamed for not releasing salary for the month of March 2019, releasing less arrears of 7th Pay Commission, and making attachments of the some teachers to favour them. They said the alleged biased attitude of the ZEO has sparked resentment among the teachers of the zone who later protested against the officer demanding justice. Taking serious notice of the matter, the Director School Education Jammu ordered an enquiry into the allegations levelled against the ZEO. The order issued by Director (No. DSEJ/15648-52, dated 03-05-2019) reads that to look onto the allegations leveled by the teachers of district Udhampur against the alleged harassment of teachers and less release of 7th Pay Commission arrears in favour of some teachers of zone Ghordhi by the ZEO and his officials, the enquiry is initiated against the ZEO Ghordi. "The Chief Account Officer of Directorate was appointed an enquiry officer, who was instructed by Director to look into the matter and was asked to submit the report after thorough perusal of related record in ZEO office in detail within three days," sources said. They said that Chief Education Officer Udhampur was directed to assist the enquiry officer throughout specified time. Sources further informed that the ZEO Ghordhi was already facing allegations of harassment, he managed to escape action due to his connections with some top officials. But after strong protest by the local teachers' forum, the Directorate initiated enquiry against the officer. |
