| Complicated laparoscopic cancer surgery performed at JK Medicity | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 6: A complicated caecal (part of large intestine) cancer surgery was performed by Dr Sandeep Bhat, reputed laparoscopic and Gastrointestinal cancer surgeon at JK medicity hospital. The patient was suffering from anaemia and upon evaluation was found to a large tumor in the large intestine. The patient approached Dr Sandeep Bhat who opined for laparoscopic removal of the large tumor. Incidently patient had undergone many laparotomies (abdominal
Operations) in the past. Most of the hospitals/ cancer centres deny laparoscopic surgery in such cases as in such cases laparoscopic surgery is very challenging and difficult to perform. The surgery was performed meticulously and with extreme caution n precision and took approximately 5 hours. The surgical team comprised off Dr Sandeep Bhat, Dr Neeraj Kaul , kuljit ji, Manav and other theatre staff. The anaesthesia was provide by Dr Gurmeet Singh and team( reputed anaesthetist ). The patient behaved well in the post operative period with minimal pain, quick ambulation, early feeding and was discharged on 5th day. Dr Sandeep Bhat has been performing Gastrointestinal cancer surgeries regularly for the past decade or so and has been trained in laparoscopic cancer surgery from Medanta , gurgoan and Galaxy Hospital, Pune. Dr Bhat has been faculty to various national and international Onco surgery conferences and workshops. Dr Sandeep exhorted the masses in general and learned people in particular to have faith in the doctors from the state and not to rush outside state for treatments available here. |
