Former cop close to PDP gets closer to ousted leader | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 6: A former police officer who was close to Peoples Democratic Party has allegedly changed his loyalties and is now closer to one leader who was ousted from the PDP. Sources said the former cop, who was given key position during the previous PPD-BJP regime, has been rubbing shoulders with the politician, who was thrown out of the PDP on charges of trying to create rebellion in the party ranks, a few months ago. Sources said the former cop has been seen holding meetings with the ousted leader and gives him advise on how to move ahead in politics. "Both of them enjoy very cordial relations for the last few months," said the sources. They said apart from holding meetings in Srinagar, the two were seen together in New Delhi. It was reliably learnt that the former cop was willing to offer all possible support to the ousted PDP leader in his future initiatives in politics. "Both of them have been holding meetings quite often and have decided to move ahead jointly," said a source. The source said a business lobby in Kashmir had brought the two closer. "Actually both of them come from same region and tribe and thus hold old equation," said a source. He said the PDP leadership has conveyed its dismay towards the former cop for having "forgotten favors of the party when it was in power." "Our party helped him from time to time but he seems to have forgotten the favors showered on him and this is really unfortunate," said a PDP leader on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the issue had been brought to the notice of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and other senior leaders. Despite repeated attempts, the former cop couldn't be contacted for comments. |
