Early Times Report Jammu, May 6: Aiming to enhance the ability to structure and organize thoughts, an Inter House English Debate Competition for the classes 6 to 12 was held at Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib. Students from each house namely Courage, Joy, Peace and Wisdom put forward their views and counter views on 'Our Votes - Do They Really Matter?' Debaters rose to the challenge to prove their arguments with great confidence and aplomb. Director Satvinder Saini, Rama Jamwal Dean Academics and Manoj Kumar the Vice Principal were the guests on the occasion. Shweta Bakshi the Headmistress, Rajeev Kumar Examination Coordinator and Monika Arora PGT English judged the speakers for their content, pronunciation, confidence and presentation. Varshleen Kour (Joy House) emerged as winner while Irshleen Kour (Courage House) and Komakshi Sharma (Wisdom House) shared the second position whereas Shaffi Choudhary (Peace House) bagged third position. Congratulating the winners Rama Jamwal said that such platforms offer the students an opportunity to form balanced and analytically structured arguments and to use reasoning and evidence, besides sharpening their speaking skills. The house matrons were equally lauded for being unparalleled facilitators. |
