| MGNREGA labourers up in arms against RDD | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, May 18: Labourers of MGNREGA are up in arms against Rural Development Department which has failed to pay their dues for the last 2-3 years.
Sources said that labourers of MGNREGA have executed several developmental works in eleven zones of the district. They have also submitted the bills for payments but continue to remain high and dry.
They alleged that the holy month of Ramzan was on and Eid ul Fitr was approaching but our payments were still not paid for reasons best knwon to authorities.
They said that they have registered protests in this regard several times but no heed was paid towards their demand.
"We need money as we have invested in the works and our payments must get released by now," they said.
President Kissan Union, Majid Khan Bobby urged the state administration that the wages of MGNREGA labourers be released at earliest and incase of any delaying tactics from the RDD officials the labourers threatened agitation against the concerned authorities and the BDOS of sub divisions Mendhar, Surankote, Mandi and Poonch will be wholly and soley responsible for the consequences, Bobby added. |
