Landher village awaits water filter plant since 2009 | | | Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report udhampur, May 20: PHE department under started work on Water Filter Plant in Landher village of Panchari Block of District Udhampur in 2009 but 10 years on, the plant awaits completion. The project which would benefit more than 5000 Population of Landher as well as other adjoining villages has remained a distant dream because of the inaction of the PHE Department, locals said adding villagers especially women have to walk long distances to fetch water. They said the department has been able to build only a water tank , besides fencing the scheme. "Though the pipe network has been laid, no water flows through them," exclaimed Arun Kumar , a local. He said the department has spent lakhs on the water Filter Plant "but we are yet to get potable water." "The tank has developed cracks and it seems the scheme will collapse before it is completed, " he said. The locals have appealed to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to take personal interest and instruct the department concerned to complete the project said as soon as possible. |
