Ambulance caught ferrying goods in Kishtwar, DC orders probe | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Jammu, May 28: In a shocking apathy, an ambulance in Kishtwar district was used to ferry goods including wooden furniture. As per the details available with Early Times, the incident was reported from Malik Market area of Kishtwar town where the officials of Health department were seen loading wooden furniture in the ambulance, sparking anger among the people. This is the second incident of its kind in last few months reported in Chenab Valley. Earlier an ambulance was caught ferrying firewood in Bhaderwah area of Doda district. Speaking to Early Times, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana termed the incident wherein the Health officials use the ambulance for ferrying luggage as shocking. He said he would look into the matter and assured action against the persons found involved in this act. He also hailed the role of media for bringing this matter into his notice and added that such things must be brought into the notice of administration. The DC Kishtwar has also appointed ADDC Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik as inquiry officer. Malik has been asked to probe into the matter so that guilty persons behind the misuse of ambulance could be identified and punished under law. It is pertinent to mention that Kishtwar and Doda districts frequently witness accidents and medical emergencies, but instead of providing the ambulance facilities to poor patients, the ambulances are often seen being misused by the officials of the Health department. Only last year a man was forced to take the dead body of his two-year-old son from Jammu to Kishtwar after the ambulance driver refused to carry the dead body, triggering massive protests in Kishtwar. |
